There were finally no more films to watch this week, that
was pretty nice. It feels good to have the program pretty much locked in, like
the festival is more of a real thing now. As soon as Shannon finishes her
travel arrangement stuff I will begin to collect the files from all the
winners, having Sydney help me out with that over spring break while I’m out of
the country. Sandra has yet to respond to us with the revised agreement. I have
asked Sydney to mention something to her about it at work this week, and if
that doesn’t yield results I’ll just book another meeting with her. The second
parking email also got no results, so I’m going to copy the parking request
form from last time and just submit it, it should still work just fine. I’m
glad to have the volunteer thing off of my plate, and Daryl will do a great job
at that. I’m sending her a spreadsheet I made for the directors to request
volunteers so she can tweak it and present on it at her next presentation. All in
all, everything is progressing right on time, though it would be nice if all
these folks would reply to me before spring break.

Week 6
This week, film wise, I’ve just been reviewing a few films
that I couldn’t remember and preparing myself to do battle for Leeroy’s Lobster
Shack, I love that guy. As far as the Lumina contract goes, Sandra Jackson had
said that she would email me a revised version of the agreement so that I could
bring it to the director’s meeting and make further adjustments ahead of our
next meeting. So far, this email has not arrived, though I am aware through
some Ace backchannels that Sandra has been a bit busy this past week. She’s
been super helpful so far, so I’m gonna give it another day or two and then
send something to remind her. On the other parts of my job, I am creating a
spreadsheet for the other departments to ask for volunteers, and this will help
me get the ball rolling on collecting those lil minions. After that I’ll be
creating a google form for volunteer signups to send to marketing for
distribution. Also, I sent a parking email that wasn’t answered, but I hear
there’s been some staffing mixups so I’ll send that again soon. Parking is
typically really simple, so that should be resolved quickly.

Week 5
The films were kinda crazy again this week. I’m not sure if
this is just the rose tinted view of good memories, but it seems to me that
submissions were of a higher caliber last year. Oh well, there are still
several good films and we’ll have enough to choose from to make a good program.
This week I’ve been focusing on the Lumina contract. I had my first sit down
with Sandra Jackson, the head of Ace, and my lumina tech person Sydney. We went
over the old contract, got up to speed on some price changes, and I informed
them of a schedule change. Sandra told me that she would update the contract
with what we had discussed, and then send it to me for me to revise to perfection.
So that is the next thing I’m waiting on. We’ve already had a slight change in schedule
and added a room to the contract this week. By next weeks class I should have
parking all worked out, that never takes very long. I have approached several
people about specialized volunteer positions, and I will soon have a google
sheet to keep track of volunteers and a form for marketing to send out over
social media to gather more volunteers. In my next presentation, I will have
everyone consider the number of volunteers they will need and when they will
need them. I will most likely make a spreadsheet with the times, specific
event, and each department on it so that they can just add numbers to this
document so I will know how many volunteers to schedule. The end.

Week 4
The films this week were… interesting. They were
exceptionally student film-ish, but I got through there. The papers are always
a hard part for me, I just don’t like reading academic writing, but it’ll be
worth it to have some kick ass presenters at the conference block. This week, I’ve
been preparing for the bake sale, the party, and the lumina contract. I am
preparing a fresh batch of Rob’s dank ass Love Chunks, and their return will be
triumphant and victorious. For the party, I am adapting the Don’t Shoot The
Baby game from Halloween into a valentine’s themed game. We will probably be
shooting Cupids or something like that, fun stuff. I had my first meeting with
Sandra Jackson about the lumina contract and she was very helpful. I gave her
our new schedule and she gave a lot of suggestions for equipment and tweaks to
the schedule. She said she will prepare a mock up of the contract and mail it
in to me so I can make changes and be sure that we have everything we need
squared away. I feel like I have a much better direction and handle on what I
am doing now, and this will come together quickly now. After completing the
cookies and the party game, I will turn my attention more strongly to parking
and volunteer registration.

Week 3
This week has been mostly jurying and preparation. The films
this week were an interesting bunch, most of the narratives were a little but
iffy, but the documentaries shone through. As far as the preparation goes, I
have made a schedule of events with the things I could remember that we need
for Sandra’s benefit when I meet with her. I’ve decided to tack this meeting on
to the end of Haley’s ticketing meeting with Sandra out of convenience, if
Sandra has time. I am awaiting a reply from her, and then the Lumina contract
will be all set. I have not yet received an email back from parking, I plan to
send another email, and if that goes unanswered I will just fill out the
parking request the same as I did for last year, it should be fine either way.
As for team management, we’ve set up important dates for the department and
made sure everyone is on top of department work and jurying. I have also
suggested that my two video race co coordinators meet a little bit early before
our weekly department meetings, this should aid in their staying coordinated
and together. Bring on week four.
