Festivals of Their Own

I found this article to be very interesting. I have only personally been to one film festival, but I was swept up by it and I've been taken in by the atmosphere surrounding festivals, which was a big part of my decision to join Visions. It was very interesting to read about the formation of the major festivals, such as Cannes and Sundance. It was a chunk of history that I had never read about before. The most exciting part of the article was the section on underground festivals. It was cool to see Cucalorus on the list, and I'll admit to wasting a lot of time looking the others up on FilmFreeway while I was reading. to read about underground festivals always makes me excited about my own projects and ready to enter into as many as possible, and I'm excited to be participating on the other side with Visions5.

Job Description/Department Manual

So it's my first week of involvement with Visions5, and my head is spinning from all the new information coming at me. It makes me both excited and apprehensive to see all of the aspects of the event I will be in charge of as Facilities Coordinator. For this first week, I went over what would be expected of me in the job description and manual several times, and began to make an outline of what I would be doing over the next month. this outline included a timeframe of when I would contact Ken Kaiser with parking (late February) and scheduling some time to walk through FSC and study the disability access points. I am coming to realize that Visions will be a bit more challenging than i may have originally anticipated, but I feel that I am ready for that challenge, and will become more and more comfortable as time goes on.
