Week 9

I've been very sick this week, and it's really thrown me off, but I'm getting everything back in order today and should be ready to go by the end of the day Sunday. I gave the first keynote brainstorm presentation on Tuesday, and it was sub par. this Tuesday, I'll give another one, which will be better now that I know more what to focus on. I'm going to be focusing on Felix, Zack, Shreyashi, and two more people of the same caliber that i will find on the alumni Facebook page. I am preparing as well for the bake sale and party this week. I'm building a shooting gallery game for the party and I was going to bake for the bake sale, but now I’m not sure if I should be touching food (because of the sick thing) so I'm asking Adrianne what she wants me to do about that. Kevin and I had intended to split the cost of the cookies I was going to make anyway, so I will probably just enlist his help in baking them so I don’t spread germs in the visions bake sale cookies. Either way, this will be a full and busy week

Week 8

This week, I've continued to do the things outlined in previous week's posts. I'm wrapping up the contact info checks for schools so Kevin can send out his emails on launch day. I am also preparing to bake some tasty things for the bake sale, and build a shooting gallery style carnival game for the halloween party. The cookies I plan to make will be secret recipe pumpkin cookies with a maple glaze on them, they’re pretty kick ass. I had originally planned to build a somewhat complicated contraption out of dowel rods for the shooting gallery so that it could be operated in real time and be more interactive, but that one fell apart. So now the plan is to tape pictures to beer cans and bring a shelf I have at home to put them on. This week I also spent some time focusing on getting Aedan on board for next semester. In preparation for next weeks class, I will be emailing a few extra ideas for the keynote presentation and sprucing up that presentation so it'll be ready for class on teusday. I plan to have five top quality options for keynote speaker ready to go by then.

Week 7

not  much new this week, just preparing for and supporting other departments projects. I've been going through the contact info i'm responsible for checking and designing a carnival game for the halloween party, as well as preparing for the first keynote presentation. I've made it through about 60 contacts at this point, and plan to be finished soon. the game i'm designing will be a shooting gallery game where the player must hit monsters and avoid humans, using a nerf gun. I’ll build a frame and run a couple of dowel rods between it. On those rods I will attach small posts with target pictures on them and strings on the bottom. The strings will be used to pull the targets upright so the player can shoot them. It’s proving a little hard to keep together, so I will be coming up with a backup plan in case it does not work out. I’ve received replies from about half of the first batch of people I emailed asking for an update, and once I present the first choices I’ll be able to follow up with the most popular ones to offer them the keynote speaker position for this year’s conference.

Week 6

I got all promoted and such. Now, instead of being Keynote coordinator for the fall semester and being video race head for the spring, I will be keynote coordinator for the fall semester and Operations director in the spring. The video race will still fall under my department, but I’ll just be supervising instead of running it myself. The new job will also include the job I did last spring, parking coordinator, which will be convenient because I learned last semester how to do it to make it an easy job. So, since my keynote job isn't super pressing yet, Im taking some time to reorganize and make sure I've got everything in order. got my trello all set up and connected to my phone, and I'm currently in the process of drafting Aedan into Visions to help with video race next semester. as far as keynote, I'm just about to send Felix an email and await his response. He is the last major prospect who hasn’t replied yet, the others who haven’t replied aren’t serious enough options to be worried about. I also need to snag the step and repeat from my neighbors garage, convenient that it ended up there.
